The aim of the HCMI qualification is to enhance the importance of human capital management and develop HR professionals and line managers into value-add practitioners of effective human capital management underpinning philosophy of the thinking practitioner and expert practitioner.
The HCMI qualification builds on existing qualifications/certificates that provide technical or academic understanding of the role of human capital management within organisations.
We believe that the field of human capital management is similar to the professions of Accounting and Medicine in that it is practitioner based, i.e. that professionals need to apply knowledge and learned experience to deliver service/solve issues.
HCM practitioners in many ways are there to enhance human capital management practice within their organisations whether through applied design or applied problem-solving. The HCMI qualification accordingly seeks to utilise theoretical underpinnings and applied research not as ends in themselves, but as pieces of the practitioner tool-kit to address practical human capital issues in the workplace.
